About
Our Team
Team Joshy D Racing is an amateur motorcycle racing team from Mirfield, West Yorkshire.
Riding for the team is Josh Dransfield, who is a relative newcomer to circuit racing and has little experience racing motorcycles whatsoever. Helping Josh along the way is his Dad Michael who, as an engineer, brings lots of technical ability to the team.
The aim of the team for the 2015 season is to learn as much as possible about racing on national circuits and eventually become a frequent front runner in the class which they are participating in.
About Josh
When Josh was 7 years old he received his first motorcycle, as a Christmas present, a LEM 50cc. He rode the little motocross bike week in week out on the fields round his house and absolutely loved it, beating his best mate who had an 80cc bike! He had a go at riding mini-motos but due to financial issues couldn’t start racing.
Josh is currently studying Automotive Engineering at Huddersfield University, and is currently in his final year.
In 2011 Josh completed his first season of racing, finishing 5th in the Darley Moor formula 125 championship (despite not finishing a few races), and 7th in the Preston and District 125 championship (despite only doing 2 rounds of 5).
In 2012 Josh took a year out of racing to concentrate on his job as a mechanic for Team WFR, in the British Superbike championship. Throughout the year Josh helped guide Alex Lowes to an eventual 4th place in the championship.
In 2013 & 2014 Josh had a very limited amount of time on the bike due to a lack of funds and other commitments. However, he did manage to compete in a single round of ThundersportGB at Donington Park, finishing in the top 10 in his first race weekend at that circuit.
